Claude Fable 5 temporarily unavailable (and why your operation keeps running)

A US government directive forced Anthropic to suspend Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all customers. On NapsixB2B nothing breaks: workflows that used Fable 5 fall back automatically to Claude Opus 4.8, and every other model keeps running.

What happened

On June 12, 2026, the US government issued an export-control directive that forced Anthropic to suspend access to Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all of its customers, worldwide. This is not a commercial decision by Anthropic or a technical failure on our platform: it is a regulatory order that Anthropic must comply with while it works to restore access.

You can read the official statement here: Statement on the US government directive (Anthropic).

What it means for you

If you were using Claude Fable 5 -our newest frontier tier, which we had added just a few days ago- you won't be able to select it during the suspension. Everything else works as usual.

  • The use cases that had Fable 5 as their model (premium chat, vision, OCR and code generation on the Enterprise plan) fall back automatically to Claude Opus 4.8, with nothing for you to change.
  • The other 40+ models in the catalog -Claude, GPT, Gemini, Llama and the Bedrock-hosted models- are unaffected.
  • The always-on free model floor (24/7) stays in place: your operation is never left without AI.

Why this doesn't leave you without service

This is exactly why NapsixB2B is multi-model. When a single model goes down -because of a technical incident, a pricing change or, as now, a regulatory decision- you don't want your whole operation to depend on it.

Our AI Gateway routes each task to the right-sized model and keeps alternatives ready. Fable 5's suspension is a headache for anyone who bet everything on a single provider; for you it is, at worst, a transparent model swap.

What we did

  • Disabled Claude Fable 5 in the catalog to avoid runtime errors.
  • Re-pointed the frontier use cases to Claude Opus 4.8 (with Opus 4.7 as fallback).
  • Left everything ready to re-enable Fable 5 as soon as Anthropic restores access.
